ABOUT THE CHAMBER

Who is the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce?

The Sublette County Chamber of Commerce is a cornerstone of the community with a long history!  Area Chambers of Commerce, sometimes operating under alternative names, have worked diligently since the 1930s, historically to attract tourists to this area.  Now, the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce is primarily focused on fostering relationships to promote growth and build a strong and vibrant community.  This organization is a 501(c)6 non-profit led by a Board of Directors and managed by one additional staff member, the Marketing and Membership Director.  Together, the team ensures that the Chamber is fulfilling our mission statement and aiding in the growth and success of the county.

What does the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce do?

Chambers can by mysterious because they fulfill many roles, many of which take place behind-the-scenes.  The most commonly seen events from the Chamber tend to be the social media posts, but we do SO much more!  Our mission statement is "to foster relationships for the purpose of promoting business growth and building a strong and vibrant community.  There are many ways that we can achieve this mission!  Here are a few highlights:

1.  Advocacy & Partnerships

We are your advocate to the Town of Pinedale, Town of Big Piney, Town of Marbleton, Sublette County Commissioners, Sublette County Travel & Tourism, our district legislators and other entities that help govern and shape our community.  If our membership is in need, we are here to listen, collect opinions, and help share insights from our business community!  We also expend significant time and energy on committee and board involvement across the county.  Our board and staff actively attend meetings and serve on additional committees across the region.

2.  Credibility

Belonging to a Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest, most traditional ways to lend credibility to your business.  Membership shows the community that you are here not just to make sales, but to give back and stand alongside other businesses as we navigate business management.  In an age of pop-up entrepreneurship, belonging to a Chamber definitely enhances your stability and permanence.

3.  Information Collection & Distribution

We collect news, updates, promo materials, and info about upcoming special offers, events and job postings from our members.  We do this by visiting your shops, calling to check-in, and emailing or mailing surveys or other information requests.  We then share this information far and wide by referrals, visitor packets, conversations with visitors via email, phone, website, social media and at local events and meetings!  Our goal is to help our members SUCCEED!

4.  Networking

The most notable quality of your Chamber membership is likely the networking!  Our goal is to support our Member network as much as possible by making connections between businesses, between businesses and new customers or between businesses and the community as a whole.  We are not an advertising or marketing agency, but we do support your individual marketing efforts through our services and business network.  We are not an event planner, but we do organize events that directly support our Mission Statement specifically to give businesses the opportunity to support and give back to the community.

5.  Community Events & "Quality of Place"

Many Chambers choose to organize a variety of community events.  This is mostly because events enhance the "quality of place" in our community, making it a better place to live with more things to do!  Chambers also offer businesses a chance to network together and meet the community's residents.  We are excited to offer numerous events across the county to showcase our businesses, educational activities and festivals!

6.  Involvement

Chambers are a unique liaison between businesses and the residents of the community.  One of the primary ways that we facilitate this relationship is through involvement opportunities - Member businesses can volunteer to be part of a Chamber committee, sponsor events, and serve on the Chamber's Board of Directors.
