Things To Do

While Sublette County is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities galore, we also have incredible scenic drives, beautiful public spaces, and places to visit! Whether you are here for a day or a week or more, here are a few suggestions for your itinerary.

Hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and camping along with boating and world-class fishing are some of our most popular outdoor activities during the summertime. Sublette County is home to 1,300 lakes. The Continental Divide Trail forms part of the county boundaries, while popular outdoor activities like the PFAC summer Soundcheck series, High Altitude Farmer's Market, Sublette County, Green River Rendezvous, golfing, sailing, rodeo, biking, co-ed softball, kids soccer, and t-ball, skate park, and more are here for you take advantage of.

Only 3.2 miles from Pinedale, Fremont Lake (above), a stunningly beautiful, pristine, and mostly undeveloped lake offers easy access to outdoor activities and is a focal point for popular annual events, including a sailing regatta and Big Fish Ice Derby. Fremont Lake is Wyoming's second largest natural lake at 12 miles long and up to 1 mile wide and is the seventh deepest lake in the country (610 ft).

In the fall, Sublette County sees a lot of hunters in the area, as snow in the high country pushes animals and hikers out. School begins, leaves change colors in a short-lived riot of golds and yellows, and the Pinedale Half Marathon brings runners from around the country who want to test their reserves with a high-altitude race.

In the winter, visitors and residents enjoy time at White Pine Ski resort, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, hockey, figure skating, and public free skate, and a serious winter ultra marathon {13 - 28 - 101 miles} – The Drift happens in the Upper Green.
