Relocating

Dear Potential Resident;

Looking to relocate? Consider Sublette County, Wyoming – a community defined by a rugged, independent lifestyle intertwined with world-class recreation, wildlife, and mountain living, all at over 7,000 feet!

Despite its smaller population, the county still offers state-of-the-art community facilities, exceptional schools, dedicated healthcare providers, and a business-friendly environment – all top-notch amenities and services available in our intimate, mountain community. With a variety of land and homes for sale, and a population of just 10,000 residents, search no further than Sublette County!

While about 6,000 of the county’s population live outside any city limits, our three incorporated towns contain most of the remaining population. The communities of Big Piney and Marbleton lie at the base of the Wyoming Range Mountains, and Pinedale serves as the gateway to the Wind River Range and Bridger-Teton Wilderness, nestled right on the Continental Divide Trail. Sublette County is home to more than 1,300 lakes, the New Fork River, as well as the headwaters of the iconic Green River.

During our busy summer months, residents and visitors from around the globe venture here to boat, backpack, bike, hike, camp, ATV, fish, cycle, horseback ride and enjoy our wide-open spaces. September, October, and November bring hunters out of the woodwork, and opportunities to hunt elk, deer, moose, antelope, bear, mountain lion, etc. are plentiful. Winter months attract snowmobilers, Alpine and Nordic skiers, ice fishermen, snowshoers, fat bikers, and other snow sports enthusiasts. If the snowy, cold outdoors aren’t for you, take a class at a local gym, sign up for an educational program through BOCES, or get involved by volunteering with one of our many local nonprofits.

Sublette County has two school districts: Sublette County School District #1 in Pinedale and Sublette County School District #9 (SCSD #9) in Marbleton/Big Piney. Both districts are accredited through the State of Wyoming’s AdvancED process and offer extensive extra-curricular activities for students from various sports teams, to bands, robotics programs, etc. Graduates from both districts have attended Ivy League colleges from Princeton to Harvard and every academic institution in between!

Sublette County Hospital District is dedicated to taking care of its patients’ healthcare needs. Medical clinics exist in both Marbleton and Pinedale. Both communities also offer senior community centers and independent living facilities with skilled nurses on-hand. The district is currently working toward a Critical Access Hospital designation, which will increase its revenues, enable them to offer more services, and add jobs to the local economy.
